On Apple devices IPTV runs through player apps from the App Store. Apple reviews every app, so the store only offers players – the content comes from your subscription. You have three ways to watch, and the right one depends on where you want the picture.
Option 1: a player app on Apple TV (best for the living room)
Pros: steady picture, proper remote control, works with Ethernet on supported models. Cons: apps with full features usually cost a one-off fee or a small subscription to the developer.
- Open the App Store on the Apple TV and search for "IPTV player", "Xtream" or "M3U". Established examples include IPTVX, iPlayTV and UHF; availability and prices change.
- In the app, choose Add playlist → Xtream Codes.
- Enter the server URL, username and password. Most apps accept typing from your iPhone through the Apple TV keyboard notification.
- Wait for live TV, films, series and the guide to load.
Two settings worth turning on: Settings → Video and Audio → Match Content → Match Dynamic Range and Match Frame Rate. They stop judder when a stream's frame rate differs from the menu.
Option 2: iPhone and iPad (best on the move)
Install the same kind of player on your iPhone or iPad and sign in with the same details. On mobile data, lower the quality in the app – a Full HD hour can use several gigabytes.
Option 3: AirPlay from your phone (fine for a quick look)
You can send a stream from your iPhone to an Apple TV or an AirPlay-compatible TV. It's handy for a one-off, but not for regular viewing:
- your phone has to keep streaming and drains its battery;
- any Wi-Fi weakness hits twice – internet to phone, then phone to TV.
For everyday use, an app directly on the Apple TV is the better choice.
Choosing an app
Whatever device, check that the player offers:
- an Xtream Codes login (plus M3U import as a fallback)
- a TV guide with a timeline
- sync between iPhone and Apple TV if you use both
- a clear price: the fee goes to the app developer, not to KIVARO
The full checklist is in IPTV player apps.
Common problems
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| "Server unreachable" | include http:// and the port; try without a trailing slash |
| Channels load but no films | sign in with Xtream Codes rather than M3U – see Xtream Codes vs M3U |
| Guide shows wrong times | check the app's time zone – see EPG explained |
| Judder on Apple TV | Ethernet, Match Frame Rate – see IPTV buffering fixes |
Frequently asked questions
Is there an official KIVARO app?
You use a compatible player of your choice. When you request the free trial, we recommend an app for your device.
Does IPTV work on older Apple TVs?
Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K on current tvOS support most players. Older models without the App Store won't work.
Can I watch on iPhone and Apple TV at the same time?
You can set it up on both. How many can stream at once depends on your plan – see pricing.
