Choosing a service

How to Test an IPTV Service Properly: a 24-Hour Checklist

A free trial only tells you something if you use it well. Here's an hour-by-hour plan for checking everything that will matter once you're paying.

A free IPTV trial is the only reliable way to find out whether a service works well on your TV, your Wi-Fi and your broadband. Adverts can't tell you that. To make sure the 24 hours aren't wasted, follow this plan.

Before anything else: a genuine trial asks for no card details and ends on its own. With KIVARO you request it through the trial form – no payment information needed.

Prepare before the trial starts

  1. Pick the device you'll really use. If you watch on the living-room TV, test there – not on your phone.
  2. Install a player app. Tell us your device in the request and we'll suggest a suitable app. Background reading: IPTV player apps.
  3. Run a speed test on the TV or stick, not on a laptop next to the router. Target figures are in internet speed for IPTV.

The 24-hour plan

When What to test What to look for
As soon as it arrives sign-in, channel list, library Does everything load? Are categories tidy?
Afternoon switching, picture quality How long does a channel take to start?
8–10 pm peak time, a live event buffering, frozen frames, audio drop-outs
Evening TV guide (EPG) Are the times and programmes right?
Next morning films, series, second device episode playback, subtitles, audio tracks

Sign-in and channel list

Enter your details and check that live TV, films and series all load. With Xtream Codes you'll see separate sections; with an M3U link, one long list. Xtream Codes vs M3U explains the difference.

Switching and picture quality

Flick between five to ten channels you actually watch and note how long each takes. Make sure the quality suits your screen – 4K only pays off on a 4K TV with enough bandwidth.

Peak time

This is the most important part. Between 8 and 10 pm, home networks, broadband providers and streaming services all carry the most traffic. Watch for at least 30 minutes without switching. A brief load when you change channel is normal; repeated freezing isn't.

If it stutters, try a cable or move closer to the router before you give up on the service. If that fixes it, the problem is your Wi-Fi – see our buffering fixes.

TV guide and time offset

Open the guide on a few channels. If everything is shifted by exactly one or two hours, it's almost always a time-zone setting in the app – see EPG explained.

Films, series and a second device

Start a film and an episode. Check subtitles and audio tracks if they matter to you. If your plan should cover more than one screen, set it up on a phone as well.

Ask support a question

Ask something real, such as which app works best on your TV model. You'll see how fast and how useful the answers are before you actually need help.

After the trial

If peak-time stability, switching and support were all fine, choose a plan length. KIVARO plans don't renew automatically; see pricing, and IPTV subscription length for which length suits whom.

If something wasn't right, tell support. It's often a setting – and if it isn't, you haven't paid anything.
